Age: 20 Home Town: I was born a travelin’ man Home Mountain: Brighton Preferred Mica Watch: The Drift. Sponsors: Airblaster, Dragon, Celtek, FunHAT, Mica, Brighton Plans For the upcoming Season: to snowboard every day and film as much as possible. i don’t have a big project to film for this year, so i plan to focus on releasing a lot of independent web content. If it never snowed again, what would you be doing with your life: hypothetically speaking, if it never snowed again there would still be snowblowers, so snowboarding would still be around…but there wouldn’t be any backcountry snowboarding…or street snowboarding…so it probably wouldn’t be as fun. i would probably move to europe and teach french kids how to speak english. X games or Rail Gardens: X-Gardens 3 favorite bands: hanson, miley cyrus, rihanna sketchiest situation: doubling out 40 miles into the backcountry on a 1992 polaris 600 without any other sledders You live in salt lake, How many fixed gears do you own: i have zero fixed gears. they are too dangerous! my friend asher got one this summer. the first night we went downtown with it, he crashed twice. i think he has the hang of it now, but the learning curve seems too dangerous to me…i’ll stick to brakes and unfixed-gears for now. Who are your Favorite people to snowboard with: alex andrews, brandon hammid, DINObots, Variety Pack, anyone at the bonezone, anyone at brighton, C. Flowers, Sherm and the PC Crew Non snowboarding influences: Top 40 radio, The French…no just kidding…kinda. I really like dance music though. I actually would say that most of my influence comes from outside of snowboarding. If you draw all of your influence from the same pot as everyone else, you’re not bringing anything new to the table. Life Goals: To make sure I feel achieved. I don’t want to look back and think that I could have done more if I tried harder. I don’t want to have regrets, and I like to succeed. Best thing about Salt lake: The Seasons…you get a solid dose of summer, fall, winter and spring. There is something different going on during every season. You’re in the same place but you live a completely different life in the summer and winter. It creates a good variety of living. All time favorite Skate/Snow part: Probably Scott Stevens in Thanks Brain or Jon Kooley in Love/Hate. Lover or a Hater: i hate haters. How do you feel about Rail combos: like combo-ing a front board with a 270? So I heard you forgot your sled in the backcountry for a couple months, what happened? Long story, it involved a broken drive belt, a lack of knowledge, an absent key, and then a forgotten trailer. How is filming with Variety pack: Everyone keeps everyone really motivated. It can be stressful at times but its also the most fun I’ve had in the last 4 years. Does style like yours come easy: I usually spend an hour on my hair before shredding each morning…I’m pretty mellow compared to alex though. Favorite trick filmed this year: probably the tailslide 270 off the picnic table on top of the wall at the end of my part in NOT BAD. I had hit that wall the previous year, and had the idea to slip grind a picnic table off the end of it. It took a lot of work to find a table and get the table up there, so i was stoked when the shot came out. |
